The best thing about this experience is that no matter what I eat the food is delicious and good for you. Korean food is non-greasy and very healthy. You are guaranteed to have kimchi of various types with every meal. No matter what time of the day you will have veggies and rice. The food is full of flavor and very satisfying.
Everytime I eat I feel content. My stomach is full but not too full and without going into too much detail you are guaranteed to be regular. Korean food does not have very much dairy which is great because even though cheese is so tasty it is not very good for you. When eating there are many little side dishes so the table is full of little plates. Meals are times for sharing and conversing. I love this because I have made lifetime friends thanks to this method of dining. Coffee shops are a very big part of Korean culture.
You will see at least one coffee shop on every block. I am not sure if it is because we are in a big city or an expensive area but food and drinks are even more expensive than in the U.S.A. I bought a cup of coffee for almost 7 dollars. In addition, you will find a lot of French restaurants. They love their breads and desserts. There are many fancy dessert places to eat. When walking the streets you will notice that the majority of the establishments have their names in both Korean and English.
English is spoken by almost everyone. It is not hard to find someone that speaks English, so eating is not very difficult or buying pretty much anything. Korea has a large appreciation for the language and it is highly encouraged to be bilingual.
